ABOUT Shannon
Shannon Williams is a a solo kpop singer as well as actress. She is half British and half Korean and is under the South Korean company, MBK Entertainment. She is known for starring in Moorim School, Hidden Singer 2, and K-pop Star 6. She is widely regarded as a child prodigy in singing.
Biography
Shannon Williams was born on May 26th, 1998. She is the youngest in her family and lived in London. At the young age of 7, she played Cosette in the broadway musical, Les Miserables. She also went on to play Oliver Twist as well.
Shannon appeared on the South Korean show, Star King, at age 12. Where she showcased her operatic singing. Many were impressed with her singing and she signed a contract with MBK entertainment to become a trainee with them for 5 years.
At age 14 she collaborated with T-ara's Areum and Gavy NJ's Gunji in the song "Together". It was announced she would become the new member in MBK's group F-ve Dolls. However, she withdrew from the group before her debut as she wanted to become a solo singer instead and appeared on Hidden Singer 2, singing Beyonce's Listen and IU's Good Day. She advanced to the semi-finals before she was eliminated.
At age 15, she released her debut song, Daybreak Rain which ranked 32 on Gaon digital chart.
At age 16, she released her comeback song, Why Why on her album Eighteen. She also was one of the actors in the drama, Moorim School which was aired January 11 2016. She also released the single, Lachrymal Gland with Soheechan.
At age 17, she participated in the show K-pop Star 6: The Last Chance. She competed against other trainees and talented individuals to score a contract that would grant the winner promotions from SM, YG, and JYP Entertainment. Shannon received high praise for her technical singing ability but was critiqued for her lack of emotion. She was selected into YG's group and sang songs such as Man in the Mirror, Who's Your Mama, Happy, and Ain't No Other Man. She advanced to the Top 4 (semi-finals) before she was eliminated.
